10/09/2024 - Alma e Natureza: The Essence of the Atlantic Forest in Every Stroke

In the heart of Brazil's rich biodiversity, the Atlantic Forest stands out not only for its beauty but also for its fragility. Amidst this lush landscape, the organization Alma e Natureza was born with a clear mission: to restore and preserve local ecosystems while promoting sustainability and environmental awareness. A vital element that reflects this mission is the organization’s logo, created by the talented advertising professional and graphic artist, Marcos Medeiros.

The choice of the Araucaria tree (scientific name: Araucaria angustifolia) as the symbol of the organization was not by chance. This majestic tree, known for its versatility, is also threatened by human actions and climate change. A single Araucaria has the power to shelter, feed, and warm, serving as a refuge for various forms of life. By choosing this tree as its representative, Alma e Natureza not only honors biodiversity but also emphasizes the urgency of its protection.

The center of the logo is marked by the color ochre/gold, which symbolizes the soul and the core not only of the individual but also of the community that the project seeks to impact. This color choice evokes the richness of the land and the intrinsic connection between people and nature, reflecting the organization’s mission to unite efforts for a sustainable future.

The logo is adorned with seven spirals formed by growing green circles, arranged from the inside out, following a Fibonacci sequence—the mathematical harmony that permeates nature. These spirals not only represent the clusters of leaves of the Araucaria but also symbolize the growth of the seedlings being planted and the development of the people involved in the project.

The choice of the number seven carries special significance. Representing the days of the week, it reminds us that there is always time to sow and cultivate, both in the soil and in our daily actions. Each day is a new opportunity to make a difference, connect with nature, and contribute to the health of our planet.

In addition to symbolizing the canopy of the Araucaria, the Fibonacci sequence reflects the community benefited by the projects of Alma e Natureza. Just as this sequence is present in many natural patterns, the organization seeks to create a lasting and sustainable impact in its surroundings.

The logo of Alma e Natureza, created by Marcos Medeiros, is a work of art that encapsulates the essence of the struggle for the preservation of the Atlantic Forest. Through the choice of the Araucaria, the meaningful colors, and the inspiring spirals, the organization invites everyone to join in a journey of awareness and action. Together, we can cultivate a greener and more sustainable future, where every tree planted and every engaged community represents a step towards balance between humanity and nature.

If you feel inspired by this mission, join us on our journey and be part of the transformation we want to see in the world.
